How our Pricing Compares to Hiring In-House

When considering outsourced accounting as a potential option for your business, it is important to understand your costs to hire, train and retain someone in-house.  It's easy to underestimate the costs, particularly for supervision and training. Often, you find the costs for an internal hire is much higher than expected...and often is higher than the price of our customized outsourced client accounting services plan for you.  Below is a plug-and-play calculator that will give you a good idea of the cost for that in-house bookkeeper or accountant.

OUTSOURCED VS. IN-HOUSE

Use the internal cost calculator to see how salary, taxes, benefits, software, and management time add up—then compare that to our typical engagements.

For most small and mid-sized businesses, outsourced bookkeeping and accounting services provide:

  • Lower total cost than staffing internally

  • Greater accuracy and consistency

  • A team-based structure (no single point of failure)

  • Broader expertise than one employee can provide

  • No HR or management burden

Small business engagement                                    $600 / month · $7,200 / year

Mid-sized business engagement                        $2,500 / month · $30,000 / year

Fill out the calculator below to see the actual cost of hiring a bookkeeper or accountant internally. The result often surprises business owners.

Accounting Cleanup Work & Conversions

Before beginning ongoing monthly accounting, many businesses need their books cleaned up. This is extremely common and must be addressed before routine work begins.

WHY CLEANUP MATTERS

Accurate monthly bookkeeping depends on a clean starting point. Without proper cleanup, financial statements can’t be trusted and errors tend to compound over time.

Cleanup is a one-time investment that ensures your books are fully accurate before recurring bookkeeping and accounting work begins. Once complete, monthly service runs more efficiently, with fewer surprises and consistent accuracy.

Many cleanup projects also involve converting from another system (QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, spreadsheets, or other tools) into QuickBooks Online.

The original data source and its quality are the main price drivers, but typically an accounting conversion will add between $500 to $1,000 to the price of an accounting cleanup project.
